Built on a plot of land on the Begur massif in one of the most sublime settings of Costa Brava, Spain, Casa Juncal by Pepe Gascon Arquitectura displays an intriguing modern architecture and offers spectacular views. According to the architects, the residence “clings to a long continuous wall running parallel with the access road and joined to a shorter wall aligned with the dividing wall of the neighbouring plot. These walls are finished with local stone, as are the masonry walls of the site. They therefore shape the land into a large terrace, while also providing the backdrop for the construction”.

The residence is structured on two levels, the upper one with three bedrooms and the lower one accommodating social areas. Most of the rooms open up towards extensive Mediterranean views and to the lush neighboring vegetation. A central courtyard divides the house in two parts, while another smaller courtyard on the southwest corner acts as an original passageway. Cantilevered balconies and overhanging terraces add up to the amenities of this Spanish dwelling, turning it into a perfect crib for relaxed living. [Photography: José Hevia]
